More misdirection from the Associated Press

Ah, more misdirection from our friends at the Associated Press.

They've got a post on their wire, dated August 14, 11:22 PM EDT, titled Rockets hit Lebanon despite cease-fire.

Only when you download and read the associated article do you find that the rockets were Hesbollah's because they launched them from Lebanon and that they failed to cross the border into Israel:

Highlighting the fragility of the peace, Hezbollah guerrillas fired at least 10 Katyusha rockets that landed in southern Lebanon early Tuesday, the Israeli army said, adding that nobody was injured. The army said that none of the rockets, which were fired over a two-hour period, had crossed the border and so it had not responded.

So while the headline isn't technically incorrect, what do you think the intent of the headline writer was?

Miscellaneous ramlbings today:

* Thanks to the New York Times, as usual, for publishing the precise formula of the liquid explosives to be used by the British terrorists. I'm sure it was part of the "public's right to know."

* Thanks to the media for finally starting in on the "These were just ordinary British guys, not terrorists" mantra. As usual, they could have the explosive and timers in place, but until they actually press the button they're just "ordinary folks." Hey, Timothy McVeigh was just an ordinary guy until he decided to detonate that truck of ANFO as well. Mohammed Atta was just a person who didn't bother with the landing lessons in flight school until that Tuesday morning, and had he been stopped at security I can guarantee you with 100% certainty the press would have called him a sad victim of racial profiling.

* The usual moonbat kooks stating this all is just a way to deprive us of our rights. Our rights to what, get blown out of the sky when we're just trying to get from point A to point B? Hey, I'm not thrilled at the idea of having to check my shampoo and toothpaste either, but it beats the hell out of having to have someone identify my remains with a strainer.

* Israel gives in to the UN. You know, I used to have the utmost respect for Israel and their military, but it seems both have fallen prey to the same liberal crap in their country that we in the US have to deal with. After weeks of a, considering their capabilites, half-hearted attack on Hesbollah's positions in Lebanon, they've agreed to let the UN moderate a "cease fire," or as most people would call it, "give Hesbollah time to rearm." Really, can anyone name a time when UN "peacekeepers" actually "kept peace" anywhere? Anyone? Even the UN's most stringent defenders? The closest I can think of is the Korean peninsula where the US Army and UN have been keeping that uneasy peace for 40+ years now, but I wouldn't exactly call it a success…
